About Us

Meet Malcolm

Malcolm was born in Australia, but soon afterward moved to Papua New Guinea where his parents served as missionaries. Malcolm comes from a big family with one older sister, two younger sisters, and a whole bunch of nephews and nieces. At the age of nine, his family moved from Papua New Guinea to New Zealand where he spent the rest of his school days.

After high-school, Malcolm attended university in Australia. He studied Science at first, but then changed to Primary Education. He graduated in 2001, from Avondale College, with a Bachelor of Education (Primary) degree.

In his final semester of university Malcolm accepted a teaching position at Hilliard Christian School in Tasmania. He taught at the school until 2005, when he took a leave of absence to work as a volunteer English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher in Almaty, Kazakhstan. After two years of volunteering in Kazakhstan, he decided to make a permanent change to ESL teaching and headed to Korea in 2007.

Malcolm taught English at a private Kindergarten in Daejeon for one year, during which time he met Irene. He then left Korea, but returned in 2009 to begin teaching as a Foreign Language Instructor in the Intensive English Teacher Training Program (IETTP) at Korea National University of Education (KNUE). He is still teaching at KNUE in the IETTP Listening Department. Malcolm and Irene plan to continue living and working in Korea after they get married.

Malcolm is an Apple lover and spends many hours in front of his MacBook experimenting with different forms of technology and graphic/web design. He is passionate about his teaching, and loves dreaming up ways of combining his work with his interest in technology. He enjoys spending time on the weekends with his best friend, Irene. Malcolm loves the Lord will all his heart and has a desire to minister to other foreigners within Korea through church leadership.
