Irene was born and raised in a small town in South Africa. She comes from a fairly big family with one older brother, three older sisters, and a whole bunch of nephews and nieces.

After high-school, Irene studied Economics and Law at Northwest University in Potchefstroom. Right after she graduated from university, she headed to Korea as a missionary to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) / Foreign Language (EFL) for Sahmyook Language School. After a few years, she became a university level ESL/EFL teacher. She has been living on and off in Korea for approximately 12 years.

Irene first met Malcolm in 2007, while she was teaching at Woosong University in Daejeon. In 2012, she moved from Daejeon to Cheongju to be closer to Malcolm, and is currently teaching at Cheongju University. Irene and Malcolm plan to continue living in or around Cheongju after they get married.

Irene loves reading, listening to music, singing, and spending time with her best friend, Malcolm. Most importantly, she loves the Lord will all her heart and is looking forward to learning more about His will for her life.
